Are You Bulimic?

bulimia202b1

I told you what happens to anorexic people before. Today I am going to let you know about bulimic people. These people are a victim of overeating.

They binge on several foods beyond their capacity and vomit it out. This causes the digestive juices in our mouth to eat away the tooth enamel and affects the teeth health. The end results are worn out teeth, bad breath and a swelling of the mouth, throat and glands.

So if you wish to gain weight or are suffering from depression, the best person to guide you is your physician. Don’t risk your life and teeth due to this extreme behavior!

    grossed out says:

bulimia is disgusting. i’ve thrown up a couple times, only when i’ve overeaten a lot. but the next day, i am so much hungrier. i don’t do it anymore cuz it makes me feel gross. if you have bulimia you really need to get help. it is serious and should not be taken lightly. my mom is a dental hygienist and she can tell who is bulimic because their teeth are rotting away from the acids in your stomach. so what, you eat ice cream and drink lots of water. what about the rest of your body?? and by the way sarah, its not ‘affective’ it ‘effective’. i guess the acid is destroying your brain too.

Hey grossed out!considering you’re correcting sarah with her “affecting” and “effecting” and, to add, insulting her, you might want to check your use of “its” and “it’s”…you should have used “it’s”. ;)

I think there are a lot more effects from bulimia than just rotten teeth. I believe someone with bulimia has far more mental problems than physical problems. I’m sure they are perfectly aware that it rots your teeth. If it were that easy to stop… they would

What if you only throw up 3 or 4 times a week after dinner only and then use enamel building tooth paste to brush your teeth after?

    Tomas says:

If you have bulimia keeping your teeth whiter is probably your last problem. Putting the general health issue here aside and going back to teeth: The digestive system generates acids that are incredibly damaging to tooth enamel. Enamel gets softer and more prone to decay which will cost a more than a few shades of white.

i think that bulimia being posted on a website about dental health is apalling. there are far more serious problems associated with eating disorders, such as in some severe cases death.

that is all true. i am aware of the negative effects bulimia has on the body and it is not easy to stop, it is easier said than done.exactly lydia i second that.

mums a dental hygenist? and she can tell when people are bulimic? you mean she has to open someone’s mouth and stare down someones gob just to find out. if you mums so intrested in diagnosing people with bulimia, you can tell her there’s an easier way. the victoms hair falls out, dosnt wake in the morning and collapses at any given time. yes, there are far more alarming symptoms then a lack of pearly whites. idiot.

well ,,that pic brings bad memories I actually checked into hospital for gastric problems and throat damages but my doctors didn’t know the reason ,, I knew it started after I began to throw up 3-5 times a day << and that didn't help me losing weight cuz I used to get more hungry after throwing up,,my teeth hurt me a little but I ignored that,,so you don't understand ppl with eating disorders are not always silly thin models it's a serious issue and very embarrassing

    Shift says:

I do agree with what lydia says. I use a tooth-strengthening gel on my teeth sometimes, and try very hard to take care of them well, but it is still extremely uneasy to sit in a dentist’s chair and look at the x-rays and have your dentist tell you your teeth are eroding, because they might just figure it out.
And d.c? Have you met anyone bulimic? Everyone’s hair falls out — it’s natural. It’s not enough, usually, to even make a noticeable difference. If you see it, it’s almost too late to make a difference. They have been doing this for years and there’s no real going back. The waking in the morning is depression. Also, it will give you no real diagnosis. And the fainting is not that frequent. Try mostly dizzy spells that are easy enough to hide. Sometimes eroding enamel is as good a sign of bulimia as anything.

    Someone wanting help says:

I came on here looking for help for my 12 year old sister. You people giving advice on how to disguise it are disgusting and should be ashamed of yourselves.

  19. May 25th, 2011 at 4:38 pm

    Andi says:

Wow…there seems to be a lot of anger and judgment going on here. Just guessing, but some of the lashing out (aside from someone wanting help) may come from some issues with self-loathing. I have been trying to deal with bulimia for quite some time, and I know how dealing with it can make you very angry with yourself. I find it interesting that grossed out mentions that he/she has thrown up after overeating…you should be proud of yourself for avoiding getting sucked into a full-blown eating disorder, but you should think back to how you felt at those times and be more compassionate towards those who were not so lucky. And addressing someone wanting help, I understand your anger, but I think that trying to minimize damage to the body until one is in recovery is the point, not necessarily disguising the disease. I have come across websites that actually promote bulimia, minimizing all of the risks that any rational person knows are involved and encouraging young people to try it, and that disgusts me as well. Again, though, I don’t think that is what is going on here. Anyway, good luck to everybody on this thread and I hope that you and/or your loved ones are able to get the help that you/they need.
