Have We Run Out Of Gift Ideas?

nostalgic-candy-gift-basket

This might seem like something away from our topic of teeth health in the first instance. I will tell you why it is relevant.

What do we usually carry when we are visiting somebody who has kids? The answer is ‘sweets or candies!”. Children don’t know the concept of self-control, which is natural. When you gift sweets they are going to gobble them up instantly. If the teeth are not cleaned or brushed properly thereafter, the kid will invariably suffer from tooth decay. Got the point?

So carry a pack of cornflakes or a pencil set the next time you are meeting a kid, what say?

Taking Care of Kids’ Teeth

Kids’ teeth are prone to caries and decay. The prime reason for this as many of us think is not just sweets and candies, but a faulty oral health regime.

Of course, I agree that sweets can stick to the teeth and cause tooth decay. All this can be avoided if the child is taught to rinse his mouth well and brush too, if possible. Thus the teeth are cleaned and there is hardly any chance of the sweet particles remaining in the mouth.

Don’t be a dictator to your kids! Let them enjoy eating a sweet once in a while.

Which Toothpaste Is Right For Me?

toothpaste We seldom think about which toothpaste to buy. For me, the brand can vary (I buy one that has some discount or free gifts!) for each month. But is that the right thing to do? One dentist friend told me that toothpastes having fluoride are good for your teeth. They can clean better and are available easily at your neighborhood grocery or drug stores. I felt a little relieved after hearing this. That is because most of the toothpastes contain fluoride and I can choose any brand that suits me well. So have you already decided which toothpaste to buy?

Stop Your Teeth from Discoloration

Discolored teeth can totally damage the beauty of your face. Today I am going to tell you how you can avoid getting stained teeth by doing a small trick.

This trick is called the white cloth test. If you are not sure whether a particular food item will leave stains, just take a pinch of it and drop it on this white cloth. The cloth will turn brown on the spot where you dropped it. That’s it! You know that this food is not for you as it will stain your teeth in the same way!

Do Teeth Whitening Products Really Help?

2031_teethwhi

The answer can be yes and no. Teeth whitening products are just an aid to have a brighter smile. Before going in for such products or treatment, make sure you have a healthy set of teeth.

By healthy teeth, we mean teeth that are free from decay and other issues. Regular brushing twice a day is of utmost importance along with flossing. Teeth whitening treatment can remove the tea or coffee stains.

If you basically have an aching tooth, then it is wise to get it fixed before opting for any such whitening products. Why waste your money if you are not going to get the desired result?

Don’t Neglect Your Teeth

How many of us are as upset when we have caries as we are when we have a pimple on our face? Neglecting oral health is common and most of us have the common reason of not finding enough time for all these things.

A regular dental check-up at least once a year is very helpful in causing further damage to our teeth. Other than that, brushing twice daily and flossing are necessary too. This helps in removing all the food particles that are lodged in between our teeth.

Make a resolution to visit the dentist on a fixed date, your teeth will thank you!

How to Care For Your Baby’s Teeth

It may seem ridiculous but a little baby needs to have an oral care regimen just like we adults do. It is important that the baby does not have teething problems as that can make her weak. When the baby is very young, before even she gets her first milk tooth, you can use your clean finger to massage on her gums to improve circulation.

A finger-brush helps greatly when your baby has just one or two teeth as by that time she has started eating a bit of solids. This is the only way to avoid tooth decay, isn’t it?baby_teeth2

What is Teeth Whitening?

Who doesn’t want a bright and white smile? I always wished for one! But some of us are not blessed with pearly white teeth naturally, and some of us stain them due to cigarette smoking, tea, coffee, soda or other reasons.

Tooth whitening implies the use of certain chemicals for bleaching our teeth, so that we achieve a lighter shade of teeth. There are various such whitening kits available, but we should choose one with care, keeping in mind our oral health and dental problems.teeth-whitening

The point to note is that a good oral hygiene is the basic necessity if you want teeth whitening products to work.

Get Rid Of Bad Breath

The most disappointing thing about our oral hygiene is when we have bad breath. That is such a major turn-off! You might be going on a date or a official meeting, your breath needs to smell fresh as ever.

Try to drink lots of water as that will help in reducing bad breath. Your dentist can also prescribe some effective mouthwash for this. If you still cannot solve the problem, a dental check-up is the best way to find out the real problem, which can be tooth decay.

Don’t let bad breath come in your way…fix a date with your dentist now!
